Comet celebrates 20 years of Psyco On Da Bus self-titled record which will be reissued on vinyl for the first time in twenty years

“Psyco on da Bus” is a collaboration with French based hiphop producer/ scientist Doctor L and Tony Allen. Together they are working to redefine Afrobeat for a new generation, incorporating sounds that move between hiphop, drum n’ bass, funk, dub and psychedelic rock. “Younger people are coming into (Afrobeat) right now. And I personally don't want to be past, I want to be future. Young people like hiphop, and techno, which is what I must think about. It's the direction I want to take. It's an experiment I've wanted to try. That's why I wanted Doctor L to produce the album.” This album has been made during the 2000 Black Voices album US tour in hotel rooms and tour Bus with the band members, uncluding Tony Allen, Doctor L, Jean Phi Dary, Jeff Kellner and Cesar Anot.

During Tony Allen's Black Voices US tour (Spring 2000), Doctor L and the members of Afrobeat 2000 band get the idea of making a collective album all together, co-writing both songs and music and creating a new spectrum that reflects their different musical and spiritual attitude.
Partly recorded on Doctor L's G3 on the bus during the tour, finished later on different studios in Paris with guests musicians such as Smadj, Dom Farkas or Eric Gauthier, Psyco On Da Bus project fill the gap between the 70's and the new millenium, blending afrobeat rhythms, gospel & soul vocals, jazz & funk licks with wicked electronics and astonishing production.
From the futuristic funk of Afropusherman to the eastern sounds of Many Questions or the killer breakbeat Pusher Mix, from the underrated
spiritual suiteTime To Take A Rest, hybrid fusion of free jazz, poetry,
rare groove and nu-beats, to the outstanding Never Satisfied, and coming with 2 wicked video clips realised by Edouard Salier (also responsible of the killer artwork!) and the ubiquitous Doctor L, Psyco On Da Bus is one of the most achieved album to come out on Comet!

I was brought here after listening to a live performance of Makaya's on you tube. I instantly loved the song Holy Lands so much that I had to see if the album version was the same rendition as the live one. Then I listened to the whole album! Universal Beings is a just a groove...
